We have a long tradition of welcoming students from Bulgaria. There are currently 70 Bulgarian students following a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University.

Undergraduate

Holders of the "Diploma za Sredno Obrazovanie, Diploma za Zavarsheno Sredno Obrazovanie, or Diploma za Sredno Spetzialno Obrazovanie" (Diploma of Completed Secondary Education) will be considered with the following grade equivalencies:

  • A*AA = 5.8 overall with 5.8 in 2 Matura exams (to include any required subjects)
  • AAA = 5.8 overall with 5.6 in 2 Matura exams (to include any required subjects)
  • AAB = 5.6 overall with 5.6 in 2 Matura exams (to include any required subjects)
  • ABB = 5.4 overall with 5.5 in 2 Matura exams (to include any required subjects)
  • BBB = 5.2 overall with 5.5 in 2 Matura exams (to include any required subjects)

Postgraduate

Holders of a good Diploma za Zavarsheno Visshe Obrazovanie (‘Diploma of Completed Higher Education’), a pre-2001 Masters degree or a post-2001 Bachelors degree from a recognised university with a minimum overall grade of 5 out of 6, mnogo dobur/’very good’ for 2:1 equivalence; or 4 out of 6, dobur/’good’ for 2:2 equivalence; will be considered for entry to taught postgraduate programmes.

Holders of a good post-2001 Masters degree from a recognised university will be considered for entry to postgraduate research programmes.

English Language

You will be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.

If you do not have the required level of English or would like to improve your English before the start of the academic year, you can take one of our pre-sessional English language courses.

Funding

For undergraduate study, EU students can apply for a tuition fee loan from the British Government.

For taught and research Masters courses, EU students (subject to meeting the eligibility criteria) can apply for a postgraduate loan of up to £10,280 for the 2017-18 academic year.
