University of Birmingham and Cyprus

We have a long tradition of welcoming students from Cyprus. There are currently 100 Cypriot students following a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University.

Entry requirements

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements.

Holders of the Apolytirion with a minimum overall score of 18+/20 plus 2 GCE A levels will be considered for entry to the first year of our undergraduate degree programmes. The Apolytirion + 1 A level may be considered at the discretion of departments:

Equivalent grades:
A*AA = 19/20 + AA
AAB = 18/20 + AA 
ABB = 18/20 +AB 
BBB = 18/20 + BB 

Holders of the Higher Technical Institute (HTI) Diploma with an overall pass of 65% will be considered for second-year entry to some courses leading to a BEng or MEng in the School of Engineering.


Holders of a good four-year government-accredited Bachelors degree from a recognised Higher Education college with a minimum GPA of 2.75 out of 4.0; or a good four-year Bachelors degree (Ptychion) from the University of Cyprus, or a recognised Greek university, with a minimum GPA of 6.5 out of 10.0 for 2:1 equivalence, or 5.0 out of 10 for 2:2 equivalence; will be considered for entry to taught postgraduate programmes.

Holders of a good Bachelors degree from a recognised university with a minimum GPA of 6.5 out of 10.0 or 2.75 out of 4.0, or a good Masters degree, will be considered for entry to postgraduate research programmes.

English Language
