University of Birmingham and Netherlands

We have a long tradition of welcoming students from the Netherlands. There are currently 25 Dutch students following a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University.


Entry requirements

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements.

Undergraduate

Holders of the Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO - University Preparatory Education) Diploma (Gymnasium A/B and Atheneum A/B) with a minimum overall score of 7/10 (ruim voldoende/very satisfactory or goed/good) will be considered for entry to the first year of our undergraduate degree programmes.

Please refer to the information below as guidance for grade comparisons to A-level entry requirements:

A*AA - AAB: 8/10 overall in the Diplom Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO)
ABB - BBB: 7/10 overall in the Diplom Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO)

Specific subject requirements: 

A = 9/10
B = 8/10

Postgraduate

Holders of a good three-year Bachelors degree from a recognised Dutch university, or a four-year Bachelors degree from a recognised Hogeschool (University of Professional Education), or a good Doctoraal from a recognised Dutch university, with a minimum GPA of 7-8 out of 10 for 2:1 equivalence, or 6-7 out of 10 for 2:2 equivalence, will be considered for entry to taught postgraduate programmes.

Holders of a good Doctoraal from a recognised Dutch university with a minimum GPA of 7-8 out of 10, and/or a good Masters degree, will be considered for entry to postgraduate research programmes.


English Language

You will be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.
