We have a long tradition of welcoming students from the Netherlands. There are currently 112 Dutch students following a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University.

Undergraduate

Holders of the Voorbereidend Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs (VWO - University Preparatory Education) Diploma (Gymnasium A/B and Atheneum A/B) will be considered with the following grade equivalencies: 

A*AA - 8.0 
AAA - 7.7 
AAB - 7.5 
ABB - 7.2 
BBB - 7.0 

Subject specific requirements: 
A* - 8.5 
A - 8 
B - 7.5 

NB Grades 9-10 rarely awarded 

Postgraduate

Holders of a Bachelors degree from a recognised Dutch university, or Bachelors degree from a recognised Hogeschool (University of Professional Education), or a good Doctoraal from a recognised Dutch university, with a minimum overall grade of 7-8 out of 10 for 2:1 equivalence, or 6-7 out of 10 for 2:2 equivalence, will be considered for entry to taught postgraduate programmes. 

Holders of a good Doctoraal from a recognised Dutch university with a minimum overall grade of 7-8 out of 10, and/or a good Masters degree, will be considered for entry to postgraduate research programmes.

English Language

You will be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.

If you do not have the required level of English or would like to improve your English before the start of the academic year, you can take one of our pre-sessional English language courses.

The British Council has offices in many countries throughout the world which are able to provide you with advice about studying in the UK. Most offices also have an education library and internet facilities where you can consult university material. The British Council can also provide advice about funding opportunities.

Funding

For undergraduate study, EU students can apply for a tuition fee loan from the British Government.

For taught and research Masters courses, EU students (subject to meeting the eligibility criteria) can apply for a postgraduate loan of up to £10,280 for the 2017-18 academic year.

For a comprehensive list of all the awards on offer at the University for home/EU and international students, please consult the undergraduate or postgraduate funding databases.

Additional sources of funding may be available from your home government or organisations based in your country. In the Netherlands, the Ministry of Education and Wilweg provide further information on available financial support for study abroad.
