The University of Birmingham welcomes applications from students from the United Arab Emirates. We currently have students from the UAE following a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University, and receive a number of students sponsored by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.

Entry requirements

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements. 

Foundation Pathways

Students leaving high school with the Tawjihiyya with 85% or above will be considered for the foundation programme (plus 85% or above in Mathematics for our Engineering and Physical Sciences pathway or 85% or above in Biology for our MGLS pathway that progresses to a Biology focused degree). 

A-Levels: We normally require BBB, but students with BBC/BCC maybe considered depending on A-level subjects and destination degree. For Engineering and Physical Sciences Pathway this should include Mathematics and for the Medical, Life and Geo Sciences Pathway this should include Biology.

Or

IB: We require a total of 28 points, or 554 at HL with 24 overall with no subject requirements - except for the Engineering and Physical Science Pathway, where a 5 in Mathematics  at SL or HL would be required; or Medical, Life and Geo Sciences Pathway which would require a 5 in Biology at SL or HL.

Undergraduate

The University will consider students who have taken GCE A Level examinations, the International Baccalaureate (IB), or a suitable foundation programme, such as the Birmingham International Academy, for entrance to undergraduate programmes. 

Postgraduate

Holders of a good four year honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject with a GPA of 3.0/4.0 or 75% from a recognised university, will be considered for postgraduate study at Birmingham. PhD applications will be considered on an individual basis.

English Language

You may be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.
