Entry requirements

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements.  

Please note: If you have taken exams which are from another country's national education system (eg SAT and AP exams from the USA) you should consult the country specific section for that country for qualification equivalence information. If you are unsure about the acceptability of your qualifications for entry to Birmingham please contact us for further details.

Birmingham Foundation Academy

Candidates must pass the Titulo de Bachiller with at least 14/20 with 14 in Maths for the EPS Pathway. Applicants will need to provide a full transcript of studies (entitled Certificación de Calificaciones).

If the Título de Técnico Medio is being studied we would need to see which specialism they had chosen as not all are relevant to our programmes: Agriculture, Commerce and Business Services, Health and Industrial.

Undergraduate

Candidates from Venezuela generally require a) A levels or IB Diploma or b) a recognised foundation programme or c) successfully completed the first year of the Licenciatura/Título with 70% or equivalent overall.

The University will consider students who have taken GCE A Level examinations, the International Baccalaureate (IB), or a suitable foundation programme, such as the Birmingham Foundation Academy, for entrance to undergraduate programmes.

Postgraduate

Holders of the Licenciatura/Título or an equivalent professional title from a recognised Venezuelan university may be considered for entry to a postgraduate degree programme. Scales of 1-5, 1-10 and 1-20 are used, an overall score of 70% or equivalent can be considered equivalent to a UK 2.1.

Applicants for PhD level study will preferably hold a Maestria or equivalent qualification

Students who have completed a Masters degree from a recognised institution will be considered for PhD study.

English Language

You may be required to provide evidence of your English ability. Please view the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.
