Choosing to study in the UK can be a rewarding but expensive decision for both American and Canadian students. That is why the University of Birmingham works in partnership with your home countries in order to provide you with the funds necessary to complete your studies and enjoy university life.
The University is approved by the US Department of Education to offer the William D Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program, enabling eligible American students to access financial support.
Loans for American students
The Government of Canada offers Canada Student Loans to full- and part-time post-secondary students who demonstrate financial need in most provinces and territories across Canada.
Loans for Canadian students
The University is registered as an eligibile institution for the Credia Indian Student Loan Program, administered through GEMS. The Program allows Indian citizens to borrow from 100,000 Indian rupees to help cover tuition fees and living expenses.
Please read the details sheet (PDF - 776KB) for more information. You can apply via the GEMS website.
Loans for students from other countries
The University does not currently administer loans from countries other than Canada and the United States. You should check with your country's government whether it provides loans for study in the UK and what the process is to apply for one.
