Information for International School Counsellors

With various higher education studying opportunities around the world, we understand that having accurate and useful information on education systems and study options is essential to a School Counsellor.

We have created the School Counsellor's Guide to studying in the UK to provide useful information on how the UK higher education and application system works. This includes overviews of the UK and the types of programmes available, the UCAS application system and how to write a personal statement. In addition the guide also looks at what the University of Birmingham can offer your students, including why students choose us and what support is offered to them during their time with us.

Visit requests and Open Days

We welcome the opportunity to engage with schools around the world and would love to hear from you. Our international officers regularly travel overseas to take part in recruitment exhibitions and school visits so why not make a request for us to visit your school? We can provide your students with informative presentations and engagement activities such as guest lectures by our academics. Get in touch and find out more by visiting our campus tours page.

Aidan Crowley, Careers and University Guidance Counsellor, British International School, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

"The lecture was a great sucess and we would certainly be very interested in welcoming more Birmingham academics for enrichment activities. Our students are always keen (as am I) to meet with universities of Birmingham's calibre and reputation."

Alternatively you may want to bring a group of students to the UK and to see our campus. We recommend that you attend one of our Open Days so your students can see for themselves what the campus has to offer and the range of programmes that they can study. Find out more about our next Open Day and register to attend.

If you cannot make our Open Day but would still like to come to campus we can arrange for you to meet with a member of the International Recruitment team and for you to take a campus tour on a day to suit you please visit  our campus tours webpage.

Virtual Open Days, Virtual Tours and Live Chats

We hold Virtual Open Days so that we can show people from around the world what students can study here and what our beautiful campus has to offer. You can log on at times to suit you and take part in live chats, watch live streams and learn more from a wealth of information on hand from staff and students. Register here for our next Virtual Open Day.

Our Virtual Tour is available at all times, giving you and your students an opportunity to see what our campus is like whilst at school or home. Take the Virtual Tour now!

We also run regular Live Chat sessions where you and your students can take the opportunity to talk to staff from the International Recruitment team. Find out when our next chat session is being held by visiting our live chat page.
