Study & Work Abroad Fair
Friday 27 October 10am-4pm
Debating Hall, Guild of Students
Every year we organise a large fair at the University and invite all our students along who are interested in a period of Study or Work Abroad. At the fair you can meet with returning students as well as our international students so it’s the perfect opportunity to find out about the different countries, what it might cost or how you apply.
• Discover amazing Study and Work Abroad opportunities.
• Meet people with first-hand experiences of studying, working and living in a great variety of countries and cultures across the world.
• Immerse yourself in the international community at the University of Birmingham and make new friends.
• Find out everything you need to know about Staff Mobility.
And, if you are a current exchange partner of the University of Birmingham, please go to our webpage here to learn more about and register for one of our Partner Visit Days and the Study Abroad Fair this Autumn!
Study Abroad Farewell and Celebration Event
We wanted to thank our study abroad students who were due to return home in the summer, and what better way than to throw them a party!
Over 150 students attended the Study Abroad Farewell Celebration on April 28th. This was a truly international affair with students attending from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Ghana, Holland, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.
It was a great opportunity for our international exchange students to see old friends and make some new ones before they finished their studies at UoB. We had a DJ and disco, photo booth with unlimited pictures (very popular) and some fun games and competitions (with prizes) through the evening. Food and drink was offered and gratefully received by all!
Claire Belkadi, Head of International Mobility, said, ‘We were delighted to have welcomed so many of our incoming exchange students to our first Farewell and Celebration event – an occasion for all nationalities to come together to celebrate the diversity of our international partnerships, and to forge life-long friendships.’
We captured feedback from students attending not only about the event but also their time at UoB as an exchange student. They were, we are happy to say, overwhelmingly positive!
Speaking about the social events our Study Abroad team put on for our exchange students, Elise Timm-Bottos here studying English Literature, from Concordia University, Canada said, ‘The events were really great this year and more than I expected honestly.’
And on the exchange experience as a whole, Edith Stephany Sánchez Fonseca, studying Business, from Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico said, ‘It is a gorgeous campus and I love so much the whole university: the Professors, the classes, classmates, EVERYTHING!’
