Eurydice Georganteli on her research into Numismatics

Duration: 1:02mins

I'm Eurydice Georganteli, Keeper of Coins at the Barber Institute for Fine Arts and Lecturer in Numismatics at the University of Birmingham. My role here is to preserve, present and research an amazing collection of sixteen thousand objects - one of the finest assembleges or Roman, Byzantine and Medieval Islamic coins worldwide.

Among my current research interests I can mention the study of the roots of communications in the Medieval Balkans - a very exciting topic. The inter-cultural dialogue in the Eastern Mediterranean throught he study of coins and other Medieval artefacts, and of course the study of this formidable empire at the cross-roads of east and west, and it's connections with the mongols, western Europe and Anatolia
