TitleMScToxicology at the School of Biosciences

Duration: 1.06 mins

Speaker Names (if given): S1 Rachael Kershaw, PhD Toxicology student

S1 I chose to study the toxicology masters because it offers a unique clinical pharmacology and forensic toxicology module. The main benefit of the course to me was that it really stimulated my interest in scientific research. I thoroughly enjoyed it had a really, really good year and it led on to me choosing to do a PhD. I chose to study at the University of Birmingham because I did my undergraduate degree here.

Teaching in the School of Biosciences on the toxicology course is given by very experienced researchers, often leading researchers in their field and is excellent. We're sitting in a lab at the moment which is used for teaching masters students. The lectures are given at the Learning Centre and they're given in reasonably small classrooms so you've got a very good student to staff ratio.

Most of the students that graduated the year I did mine have stayed within the field of Toxicology - they've all found employment. Definitely recommend it, I've been here, this is my eight year now so that's a recommendation if ever there was one!
