Careers and networking

See if the Careers and Employability Centre can help youWhether you need support and advice, a job or work experience, we are here to help you make the transition from university graduate to employee.

Support and advice

Birmingham is committed to supporting its alumni as they enter the world of employment. Careers advice is available from Careers Network for a year after graduation, and you can meet with a professional adviser at our drop-in centre. The centre also holds a wide range of workshops and events designed to help improve your skills and confidence.

Looking for a job or an employee

Alumni who are members of our your.bham website can find or post vacancies online. The Alumni Office holds professional networking events that are ideal for developing your portfolio of business contacts and you can also join a virtual network of alumni through our LinkedIn group, called University of Birmingham Alumni and Friends.

Work experience

In the current economic climate, it is more important than ever for our students to obtain relevant work experience. If your business or organisation is able to offer placements, please email Work Experience Officer Sue Welland or telephone on +44 (0)121 414 8180.

The University always needs alumni from all sectors of employment to speak to students at careers events. If you feel you can give something back to Birmingham in this way, please contact Careers Network on +44 (0)121 414 6120.
