We are delighted to invite all alumni to the eleventh annual reception at the House of Lords which will take place on Friday 7th November, 6.45pm to 8.30pm.
The reception will be hosted by Lord Hannay of Chiswick, who served as the University’s Pro Chancellor from 2001 to 2006. Wine and canapés will be served in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace, which overlook the River Thames and offer stunning views of London. The evening is a great opportunity to meet up with old friends, talk to some of our current students about their Birmingham experience, and to catch up with the latest University news.
This year’s reception will also give alumni and friends the opportunity to meet Lord Bilimoria of Chelsea, CBE, DL (DUniv 2014), who was installed as the University’s seventh Chancellor in July 2014. Lord Bilimoria follows in the footsteps of previous Chancellors including the Right Honourable Joseph Chamberlain, the Right Honourable Anthony Eden, Earl of Avon, and succeeds Sir Dominic Cadbury, who stepped down in December 2013.
Alumni and guests are also invited to take a private tour of the chambers of the Houses of Lords and Commons prior to the reception. The tours are a popular part of the reception and are led by lively and interesting guides who have a thorough knowledge of the history and workings of Parliament.
Tickets for the reception have now sold out and, due to high demand, the waiting list is now also closed.
This is a non-profit event for the University and the ticket price is fully redeemed against the cost of the event. Due to the popularity of this event, tickets are restricted to two per person. Your guest may be a non-alumnus of the University and guest tickets must be booked through the online shop at the time of booking.
