On Friday 11th November, Professor Edward Peck, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Head of College of Social Sciences and Professor Lee Kwok Cheong, CEO of SIM Global Education, hosted the first degree presentation ceremony in Singapore. The presentation ceremony, jointly organised by the Singapore Institute of Management and the University of Birmingham, was attended by students from our current MBA and Undergraduate Business programmes both taught in Singapore, as well as alumni who were not able to attend their graduation ceremonies at the time of graduation.
The ceremony, which took place at SIM Headquarters, was followed by an evening dinner reception to celebrate 25 years of the University’s MBA Programme. The MBA was first taught locally in Singapore in 1993 and the University is now working with SIM as a local partner. The reception took place at the Barclays building in the Marina Bay Financial Area of Singapore, a venue kindly facilitated by alumnus Stewart McLaren (MBA International Business, 1995) of Barclays Capital Services Ltd. The evening offered a fantastic opportunity for alumni, students and staff to network and find out more about the latest UoB developments both in Birmingham and in Singapore.
