BP Scholarships

Global energy giant BP generously funds a programme of scholarships at Birmingham to develop talented students across engineering, science and social science degrees.

Students awarded the scholarships receive financial support and the opportunity to gain an invaluable insight into the range of career paths offered by BP.

BP has had a long standing relationship with the University and decided to deepen this in 2008, when it invested $1 million to establish the scholarships programme

The scholarships on offer include those awarded to Access to Birmingham (A2B) students; Excellence Scholarships in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences ; BP Internships offering 10-week training programmes; ; and Fourth Year Masters Scholarships.

Emma Hardaker-Jones, Head of Resourcing at BP, says: ‘We recruit a large number of graduates from Birmingham, and this partnership will enable us to raise awareness of BP as an employer of choice and identify and recruit talented students ahead of the competition.

‘We are committed to supporting our industry’s future talent throughout their education, and these scholarships will help to bring the highest calibre of students to Birmingham and in turn, increase the number of those students later recruited by BP.’
