Get Involved, South East Asia

Despite being thousands of miles away from Birmingham, there are a number of ways you can volunteer to help the University, from providing tips and advice to current students to hosting alumni events in your city.

Organise an alumni event in your region

We are always looking for volunteers to organise events in their cities. If you would like to get together with your fellow alumni and organise an informal gathering, let us know and we can help.

Volunteer at recruitment events

The University’s International Recruitment Officers hold various recruitment events in South East Asia and are always looking for alumni to volunteer. As an alumnus of the University you have first-hand experience of studying at Birmingham as an international student, so your tips and advice are invaluable to prospective students. If you are interested in helping out at future events email Jane Bower.

Share tips and advice with students

Moving to a new country to study can be a daunting experience. You can help current and future students from South East Asia by sharing your tips and advice on how to get through those homesick moments, whether it’s during the first few days of Fresher’s Week or missing home during the holidays. Email any advice or stories you have to us and we will pass them on to our International Student Advisory Service.
