Regional relationships

The University’s history is interwoven with the history of the great city of Birmingham. We are as ambitious for the future of the city of Birmingham as we are for our own future, and recognise the importance of the regional relationships we hold with key partners, schools and businesses. From our economic contribution of £779 million to the West Midlands region to the role of local people in our research, we are proud to be Birmingham's University, developing world-leading research and innovation for more than a century.

We are working with the city’s businesses, sporting and cultural icons to help put Birmingham on the world map as a city of cultural, intellectual and innovative importance.

Chamberlain founded the University so that it could support the growth and development of the city. This laid the foundations for a relationship that continues to this day. Our relationship with our local community is constantly evolving and maturing to the benefit of the region and the University.
