Student volunteering

The University encourages its staff and students to volunteer in the local community and within local community settings. Our Selly Oak Wardens scheme, run in conjunction with the University's Guild of Students, ensures that local residents can see the benefits of having students living in their neighbourhoods.

Regular street cleaning, litter picks, painting local school playgrounds and engagement with local resident groups, fosters a sense of responsibility among our students for their term-time community.

Our Guild of Students (the University's students’ union) has a vibrant community of volunteers who work in all sectors and areas of the local community, from activities with young children to working with the elderly. More information can be found at the Guild of Students volunteering website.
