At the proposed University Sixth Form the focus will be on preparing you for entrance into selective universities. The academic programme will be rigorous, and you will be advised as you make your choices to maximise your ability to pursue the options right for you.
You will be able to take advantage of the full range of academic subjects. As a whole, the University School will have a particular focus on ensuring excellence in science and mathematics, but those with interests in other areas will be able to pursue those also and will receive teaching and support of the same calibre. Sixth Formers will be able to choose either A level or International Baccalaureate routes, although it is likely that the IB option will not be available in the School's first years due to the IB accreditation process. Because of the Sixth Form's goal of preparing you for selective universities, we will not offer vocational alternatives.
During admissions we will take into account your GCSE performance to ensure that you will able to handle the rigorous academic programme. Your teachers will be of the highest calibre, with Master’s degrees or higher qualifications, and they will be skilled at delivering the type of enquiry-based learning designed to prepare you for rigorous study at university level.
Sixth Formers will interact regularly with University staff and have access to some University facilities. There will be a focus on personal growth, with strong discipline, an emphasis on character-building, personalised careers and academic advice, and outstanding support for you as an individual.
