Ed Smith is the former Global Assurance COO and Strategy Chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He recently retired from a highly successful 30 year career with PwC where he held many leading Board and top client roles in the UK and globally as a Senior Partner. He now enjoys a portfolio of Board roles in education, sport, thought leadership and sustainable development as well as a number of commercial interests.
He is Chairman of WWF-UK and a member of its International Board & Audit Committee. He is Chair of British Universities & Colleges Sport, a Member of Council & Treasurer of Chatham House, Deputy Chair of the Managing Partners Forum and Chair of the Student Loans company. Ed joined the Board of the Department for Transport on 1 January 2009 where he also chairs the Audit Committee and is a member of the UK Competition Commission.
Ed has been a member of Council since 2009 and Pro-Chancellor since 2010. He is Chair of the Membership Committee and currently serves on the Strategy, Planning and Resources Committee and Remuneration Committee.
