Ed Smith is the former Global Assurance COO and Strategy Chairman of PwC He retired in 2007 from a highly successful 30 year career with PwC where he held many leading Board and top client roles in the UK and globally as a Senior Partner. He now enjoys a portfolio of Board roles in education, sport, thought leadership and sustainable development as well as a number of commercial interests.
He is Chairman of WWF-UK and a member of its International Board. He is Chair of British Universities & Colleges Sport, a Member of Council & Treasurer of Chatham House, Deputy Chair of the Managing Partners Forum and Chair of the Student Loans Company. He is also a non- executive director of the Department for Transport where his focus is on major infrastructure and is a member of the UK Competition Commission. His most recent appointment is as a non-executive director and chair of the Audit Committee for NHS England which is leading the Government's reforms set out in the 2012 Health and Social Care Act.
Ed has been a member of Council since 2009 and Pro-Chancellor since 2010. He is Chair of the Membership Committee and currently serves on the Strategy, Planning and Resources Committee and Remuneration Committee.
