Biography

 

A Birmingham graduate (BSc Geography 1974 and MSc in Work Design and Ergonomics 1975), Marcia Davies joined the health and Safety Executive (HSE) in 1976 as a Health and Safety inspector in the West Midlands, following a brief spell in Health Service administration, and has undertaken a range of operational, policy and management roles in various parts of the country. Prior to her retirement in 2011, Marcia Davies was the Director of the Health and Safety Executive’s Operational Strategy Division.  Previously, she was Regional Director for the West and East Midlands and remains based in Birmingham.

Marcia has maintained links with the University since graduation. She has been a member of Court, nominated by the Guild of Graduates and Alumni Association, since 1994. She had a long association with University House when it was a hall of residence and was Vice-President of UH Association from 1991 until its recent winding up. She was previously a member of both University House Committee and Wyddrington (later Shackleton) Hall Council.

Marcia became a lay member of Council in 2005 and is currently serving on the Audit Committee, Research and Knowledge Transfer Committee and Membership Committee.
