About

Mike Gilbert is an alumnus of Birmingham, graduating in Physics in 1972.  He is a chartered accountant and prior to his retirement was a senior assurance partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Midlands.  In this role he had a long association with the University as partner responsible for the external audit during the majority of the 1990s.  His business interests focused on education but also extensively with ‘mid tier’ business where there is a strong link between management and ownership.

Mike is a trustee of Vintage Trains and a director of Cullum Detuners Investments Ltd.

He is married to Anne, who is also a Birmingham graduate and has four children and five granddaughters.  When time permits he enjoys the occasional game of golf, fell walking, developing his model railway and playing hockey.

Mike has been a lay member of Council since 2005 and became Treasurer in 2006.  He is currently a member of the Strategy, Planning and Resources Committee, the Remuneration Committee the Membership Committee.  He is Chair of the Investment Committee and is in attendance at meetings of the Audit Committee.
