The Council's constitution, powers and terms of reference are set out in article 9 of the University's Royal Charter (PDF - 98KB) and in section 9 (PDF - 14KB) and section 14 (PDF - 54KB) of the Statutes of the University.
The Council annually adopts a Code of Practice which sets out the Council’s primary responsibilities and provides a foundation for the work of Council and its committees.
The ‘Code’ includes:
Standing Orders of the Council - which regulate the conduct of Council business
Code of Practice on Public Interest Disclosure and ‘Whistleblowing’
Procedure for consideration of grievances submitted to Council
Scheme of delegated powers of Council
