The University of Birmingham Dubai offers a unique opportunity for innovative and creative Academics and Professional Service Staff to be involved in building a sector leading teaching and research environment that is synonymous with a truly global and forward thinking University. 

Already recognised as one of the world's top 100 universities across the globe, this latest phase in the University of Birmingham’s global expansion builds on the University’s international teaching activities in Singapore and China, and its extensive international research collaborations.

Over the next twelve months, then expanding thereafter, we will be looking for new staff to join our already talented and committed Academic and Professional Services staff in ensuring that our campus in Dubai is open and ready for a new intake of students by September 2018. A number of new opportunities will become available in the areas detailed below.

Our ambition is to grow the University of Birmingham Dubai to around 4,500 students studying on a full range of programmes; and to establish an active programme of research.

Requiring some travel, these roles will be involved in the set up, delivery and support of the Dubai Campus from the UK and may include Estates, Finance, HR, Legal, IT, Marketing and Academic Services.

Dubai based Academic roles

To ensure that the full student and teaching experience in Dubai will be akin to in the UK, the overseas campus in Dubai is an extension of the academic Colleges and Schools in Birmingham.

Director or EPS Foundation Year

Contribute at a senior level on a sustained basis to the whole range of teaching leadership and administration. This will be a Dubai based Director post, with significant teaching responsibility. In particular, this post holds responsibility for delivering physics and physics related modules, potentially including mathematics in Dubai, corresponding to the material that is delivered in the UK.

In addition the role holder will co-ordinate Foundation Year modules, including oversight of the quality of teaching delivery and liaising with academics and professional services on both campuses.

School of Education 

School Partnership Strategies Manager

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to play a key role for the School of Education’s Teacher Education programmes at the Dubai campus. With the launch of the University’s branch campus in 2017, the Schools partnership strategies manager will lead the development and implementation of our external presence in the region. The Schools Partnership Strategies Manager plays a critical and leading role in ensuring the School of Education realises its strategic aims for learning and teaching through strategic planning, development and management of the School’s complex and diverse teacher education programmes and related external partnerships. The post holder will play a key role in developing a comprehensive understanding of the landscape in which the School operates, including the impact of government policy and partner needs relating to teacher education, and postgraduate teaching provision. Based in Dubai, the post holder will support student recruitment activity through building relationships with key stakeholders within the schools market. In the year leading up to the first intake of students your responsibilities will focus on building up the necessary school partnerships for the placement requirements of the teacher education programmes.

You will have proven client relationship management experience. You will be able to evidence your ability to deliver against targets. With the ability to identify and seize new opportunities, you will also work collaboratively with a range of colleagues based in Birmingham and Dubai. You will be a self-starter who can work under their own initiative. You will be comfortable working with senior management colleagues, providing advice and guidance based on your expertise. In this role it is vital that you are a key ambassador for the University of Birmingham in the Middle East and beyond to ensure success in this exciting new initiative.
