Shakespeare, Cultural Value and the Olympic World Shakespeare Festival

Dr Erin Sullivan, Lecturer and Fellow, Shakespeare Institute This talk reflects on highlights of the Olympic festival and its influence on our understanding of Shakespeare as we approach the 450th anniversary of his birth in 2014, the 400th anniversary of his death in 2016.

This event is one in a series of University of Birmingham lunchtime lectures presented as part of The Library of Birmingham's new season for 2014 - the Cultures Season - celebrating human creativity in its widest, most fascinating and sometimes unexpected forms, from the earliest days of print to the latest digital technologies.
