Rubbish from the Izba: a performance by Elena Kovylina

Elena Kovylina’s work emphasises social critique and identity politics, produced in a range of media including film, installation, and performance.  In this performance the artist ironically plays with the idiomatic Russian expression to ‘get the rubbish out of the izba’, which is similar to the phrase ‘washing your dirty linen in public’.
