In this lecture, Dr Alexey Stepanoff will explore the development of film about the special services of the USSR and Russia including: the flowering of the theme between 1960-70, the crisis of this ‘genre’ during perestroika and how the image of the KGB serviceman has been transformed on screen in the post-Soviet epoch.
