An open masterclass with Michelle Lefevre, Senior Lecturer in Social Work and Social Care, University of Sussex
Engaging and communicating with children: Bridging the gap between 'best practice principles' and 'real world constraints' is an open, free masterclass designed for social work practitioners working across children and family services. Hosted by the Birmingham Social Work Academy at the University of Birmingham, this masterclass is being delivered by Michelle Lefevre.
Following social work qualification, Michelle practiced in fieldwork and specialist settings as a social worker and Senior Practitioner/Consultant. Following training as an arts psychotherapist she practised clinically and as an expert witness for the family courts. Her experience included forensic investigative interviewing of children, child protection assessments, sex offender treatment, groupwork with partners of offenders, and psychotherapy with children in care and adults and children who had experienced abuse. She began contributing to professional development courses and qualifying training in 2000 and joined the University of Sussex as an academic in 2003.
