The LGBT Rainbow Network was launched by the Vice Chancellor and Principal in 2010. Its aims are to provide a space for staff who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or queer/questioning – and friends of these communities – to meet and to develop an interesting and enjoyable programme of events and activities. The Rainbow Network reports back to the University through the Diversity Forum.

The Rainbow Network is also an informal point of contact for LGBT issues that may arise in the workplace, such as bullying and harassment. Acting in complete confidentiality, the Rainbow Network will signpost members to specific services available to LGBT members of staff, both internal and external to the University. The Rainbow Network can also point members towards colleagues within their own college or department who can help.

For more information about the Rainbow Network or to be added to their mailing list e-mail lgbtq@contacts.bham.ac.uk. You can also like the Rainbow Network on Facebook and follow them on Twitter

The University of Birmingham LGBTQ Association, based in the Guild of Students, promotes the interests and equality of LGBTQ students within the University and also acts as a referral service for any student seeking support and guidance.

You can find more information about the LGBTQ Association’s LGBT History Month events and activities on the Guild of Students Facebook page
