Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the University’s Director of Orchestra Studies Daniele Rosina, present a rare opportunity to hear two lesser known, novel works by Stravinsky and Smetana along with Symphony No. 1 by Sibelius. The Prague Carnival is one of Smetana’s final works while Stravinsky’s Circus Polka was originally a ballet score commissioned and performed in 1942 by famed choreographer George Balanchine and the Barnum & Bailey Circus for fifty elephants and fifty human dancers.
