It is the wedding day of Figaro and Susanna, butler and lady-in-waiting to Lord and Lady Almaviva, who have kindly offered their grand country home as the venue for the celebrations. The happy couple find themselves embroiled in a series of witty, perverse and surprising scenarios, all of which ensure that their wedding day is one that both they and their guests will never forget. With its enchanting plot, memorable characters and captivating melodies, The Marriage of Figaro remains one of Mozart’s most popular operas. Performed in English in the ENO translation by Jeremy Sams, this production is performed, directed and produced entirely by students from the Music Department, Drama Department and further afield, many of whom hope to develop a professional career in opera, music and theatre.
