Studio 3

Studio 3 is available to all postgraduate electroacoustic (or mixed) composers and has the following main purposes:

  • sound processing facilities
  • dubbing facilities
  • control room for the recording room in Studio 5 (alternatively, Studio 6 can be used as a control room)
  • teaching and practice room for classes in Max and Supercollider (also open to 3rd-year undergraduate students)
  • general purpose lab and project meeting room

Each computer system is normally used with Beyer DT770 headphones. Monitoring can also be carried out over Genelec 1029A speakers.

The noisy components of the computer systems are located remotely.

System A - Apple Mac Intel Xeon computer with Kyma Capybara system, MIDI controller, Apple 23" TFT video display and MOTU 828 Mk II audio interface.

System B - Apple iMac with MOTU 828 Mk. II audio interface.

System C - Apple iMac with MOTU 828 Mk II audio interface.

System D - Apple iMac with MOTU 828 Mk II audio interface.

System E - Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer with MOTU Traveler audio interface.

System F - Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer with MOTU Traveler audio interface.

System G - Apple iMac with MOTU 896 HD audio interface.

System H - Apple Intel Xeon computer with Apple 23" TFT video display and MOTU 896 HD audio interface.

System for BEAST - Apple Mac Pro Dual 3GHz Quad-Core Intel computer with Apple 20" TFT video display and MOTU 24 I/O audio interfaces. This system is flightcased for use as the controller system for the BEAST diffusion rig. Use of this system is restricted to the programming team.
