Studio 5 is a recording room. It is used by postgraduate composers, and by undergraduates when supervised by their course tutor.
The room is linked via 8 microphone lines to Studios 3 and 6, either of which can be used as a control room. Talkback facilities are provided for easy communication between the performer and the sound recordist. The walls have sound treatment panels in order to create a more acoustically neutral environment. The mic lines may be extended with a multicore to allow for larger scale recordings in the Elgar Concert Room.
