The Analytical Ultra Centrifugation Facility (AUC) is based at the University of Birmingham School of Biosciences and boasts many of the biophysical tools essential for complete biomolecular characterisation.
These tools provide information on:
Conformation: Circular Dichroism (CD), Fourier Transformation Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray Crystallography
Size: Analytical Ultracentrifugation (AUC)
Aggregation and Association: (AUC/DLS)
Protein folding and stability: (FTIR/CD/AUC)
The facility has been used in numerous research efforts in Biosciences, other departments at the University and in external collaborations, both academic and industrial. Research within the areas of molecular immunology, cancer biology, host-pathogen interactions, protein crystallisation, cellular motility and membrane protein research have benefited from the facility.
Data collection for internal customers is via the Functional Genomics and Proteomics Unit
