Gino Bellavia

Gino is Director of the Birmingham Partnership on SMARTculture, an EU FP7 funded Regions of Knowledge project 2012-2015, working with 8 EU digital cultural clusters.

Gino BellaviaGino is also an active steering group member of Digital Media Business’s Ltd, the voice for the Greater Birmingham Digital Media cluster.

Previous to this role Gino developed activities around digital transformations in the arts and cultural heritage alongside directing the ERDF funded West Midlands Digital Cultural Heritage Demonstrator.

Gino has worked as business development manager for the College of Arts and Law, catalysing Knowledge exchange in the Arts and Humanities, and as Business Manager for VIN technology services, worked with hundreds of SMEs in the West Midlands across a range of sectors engaging them with 200 academics from all disciplines at the University in collaborative R&D and knowledge exchange.

Before working at the University of Birmingham, Gino has had a successful sales career, led several expeditions into Central America and advised UK government on ICT strategies in education, especially around broadband and content delivery.

Gino, an experienced archaeologist, is passionate about heritage and is currently undertaking a PhD in Spatial Analysis of Prehistoric Ritual Sites.
