The new Digital Heritage Demonstrator project

The new £2.4 million ERDF funded West Midlands Digital Heritage Demonstrator project is now under way.

erdf1Working in partnership with four of the region’s key heritage organisations; The new Library of Birmingham, The Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust and The Worcester Hive, the project aims to demonstrate how collaborative projects exploring the use of digital technology with the Cultural and Heritage sector can develop new markets and increase profits for business.

Alongside the newly appointed, dedicated on-site technical development team , the project will also enlist the skills and expertise of a wide range of additional academics from across the University of Birmingham including the School of Computer Science, the Human Computer Interaction Research Centre and the School of Electronic, Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Based in the new purpose built Heritage and Cultural Learning Hub at the University of Birmingham, the project will offer tailored support from a wide range of experts in the field of digital technology and innovation and provide access to a suite of innovative multi-user, 3D multi-touch technologies, mobile devices and tablets, advanced user-testing facilities and augmented reality tools, all integrated into a unique digital prototyping lab.
