Hello, my name is Rachel Posaner and within this very short podcast I am going to guide you through how to find an ejournal via the University’s elibrary.
OK to start with then some information about the Elibrary. The eLibrary provides access to all electronic resources, including ejournals, databases, useful websites, available to University of Birmingham staff and students. To find it go to our library website at…. http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/hsmc-library
And then select the Elibrary link. The Elibrary can be accessed both on and off campus using your University username and password. If you have not got these details then please contact a member of the IT desk who will be able to assist you. Their number is: 0121 414 7171
Once you are logged in go to the “find ejournal section” and type in the name of the journal in the title search box. Don’t forget to type here the name of the journal that you are looking for and not the author or article title. If you are unsure of the exact title of a journal select the “contains” button as it will search for any journal title that contains the search terms.
Once you have entered the title of the journal you are searching for click on “go” and you should get a list of journal titles displayed. Click on the button called “find it @bham.” And a pop up box should appear which will describe the different publishers that hold the full text of the journal. Before you fill in the details you are looking for make sure that the year you are looking for is covered included in the “available from” field.
If you know the full bibliographic details that are you are looking for enter them into the specified boxes and click on “Go” and your article should hopefully appear in pdf format. Alternatively if you only know the publication year, just fill in the details, press go and you should then be able to browse the journal issues to find the article you are after.
