About the Infant and Child Laboratory - School of Psychology

Welcome to the University of Birmingham Infant and Child Laboratory. We are based in the School of Psychology on the University campus, and in our research we study a variety of questions about infants' and young children's developing minds and brains.

About the Lapworth Museum of Geology - University of Birmingham

The Lapworth Museum of Geology has the finest and most extensive collections of fossils, minerals and rocks in the Midlands. The Museum dates back to 1880, and is one of the oldest specialist geological museums in the UK. Throughout its long history the Lapworth Museum has provided a valuable resource for students, schools and colleges, research workers, enthusiasts and anyone with an interest in, or desire to learn, about geology. The museum supports teaching and research in the Earth Sciences and natural history within the University and the West Midlands region.

About the SILLA facility - School of Geography, Earth amd Environmental Sciences

The facilities available within the Stable-Isotope and Luminescence Laboratory include:Mass Spectrometry (CF-IRMS)The stable-isotope facility, commissioned in December 2005, runs a GV Instruments Isoprime™ IRMS connected to a Eurovector Environmental Analyser with both solid and liquid autosamplers. This configuration permits the analysis of δ18O and δ2H in liquids and δ13C, δ18O, δ15N, δ34S and δ2H in solid samples using pyrolysis or combustion techniques. The lab also has a GV Multiflow preparation line for the determination of δ13C and δ18O in carbonates, δ18O of water and δ13C of dissolved inorganic carbon in waters.

About the SyMoN facilities - Sensory Motor Neuroscience (SyMoN)

SyMoN comprises a number of specialised labs including Action dynamics, Active Touch, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Posture and balance and a Technical Project Area.
