Forum Lecture TheatreLearning is a dynamic process that requires a versatile, spacious and comfortable environment, which is why the Centre for Professional Development accommodates formal and informal learning styles. The suite of rooms comprises 3 lecture theatres, break out rooms, an IT Hub and a social area with freeview TV for delegates to relax, allowing creativity to flourish.

Situated in the heart of the Medical School the centre is just a three minute walk from University train station. Such a central location makes it ideal for seminars, conferences, meetings and short courses.

All rooms are fitted with Data Projectors, Screens and Whiteboards and benefit from natural daylight. Wireless Internet is available throughout the Medical School. 

The CPD Team are always on-hand to provide support from the point of booking to the day of your event.

The Centre for Professional Development offers full Day Delegate Rate from £32.50.

Day Delegate rate include:

  • room hire
  • hire of standard equipment (laptop, data projector, screen and flipchart)
  • refreshments and buffet lunch 
  • breakout room for refreshments and lunch
  • conference signage 
  • CPD staff on hand to support you through the day
  • wireless internet
  • computer room available for delegates and speakers to access emails / Internet
    (3 computers, telephone, printer)


Wolfson Centre for Medical Education
Leonard Deacon Lecture TheatreHousing the spectacular Leonard Deacon Lecture Theatre, plenty of exhibition space and excellent audio-visual equipment, the Wolfson Centre has the capacity to host large academic or professional events up to 300 people.

Day delegate rate includes:

  • Room hire
  • Refreshments and a buffet lunch
  • Conference signage 
  • CPD staff on hand to support you through the day

Also available:  

  • Exhibition space, price on application
  • Staffed cloakroom, available on request

Full day delegate rate from £42.50.

The Wolfson Centre is available at weekends or outside of term time only


Laboratory facilitiesClinical Facilities

Laboratory facilities are available to hire within the Medical School, teaching laboratories can cater for small or large groups and offers real hands on experience.

Onsite facilities include:

  • Data Projector with iMac (Max OS X, Windows XP/7)
  • Microscope imaging camera for projection
  • Visualizer
  • WiFi access at no extra cost
  • iPad compatible colour printers
  • Gas available throughout  
  • Cold room storage facilities 
  • Nearby lift access for deliveries

All labs are licensed for Non-regulated animal procedures.

Standard equipment available includes:

  • Binocular bright field microscopes (x4/10/40 AND 100 objectives)
  • A single Multi-fluorescent microscope (FITC/TRITC/DAPI) with imaging software
    CO2 & standard 37°C incubators, access to tissue culture facilitates (5 Class II cabinets)
  • Complete range of micropipettes and other standard laboratory equipment, micro-centrifuges/vortex mixers etc.. 

Equipment available to hire:

  • Phase contrast microscopes
  • 19x ADInstruments Powerlab units (ultimate package) complete with Apple MacBook laptops

The labs are available outside of term time only

IT SuiteIT SuiteIT facilities available for hire within the Medical School, PC Suite £750 per day.

Facilities include;

  • 25 computers and one trainer computer
  • Standard software (Microsoft Office package)
  • Additional software can be loaded on request 
  • Internet and wi-fi available throughout
  • Data projector
  • AV technician available upon request (price on application)
  • Natural daylight

Available outside of term time only.
