Event Overview

IBR LabsThis event gives visitors the chance to chat to our cancer research scientists and doctors, to understand more about how discoveries are being taken from the lab into treatments designed to benefit cancer patients. Come “behind the scenes” in our laboratories and tissue bank, with the chance to actually look at cancer cells under the microscope and have a go at being a scientist.

Working in a labThere will be a range of short talks on many interesting cancer topics, with local experts on hand to answer any questions. Learn more about the science behind the research with hands-on demonstrations and games, and try analysing tumour samples online.

Cancer NurseIn addition, Cancer Research UK nurses will share information on steps that can be taken to reduce the risk of cancer, with plenty of materials to take away.

Who is this event for?

Get involvedAnyone who has an interest in learning more about cancer and our progress in Birmingham.

The content of talks and activities is pitched for a ‘lay’ audience, with opportunities to ask more detailed questions of the cancer researchers and doctors during the event.

Younger visitors are welcome, but under 16s are not permitted into the laboratory areas.
