Course Summary

Clinical Audit is an essential component of professional revalidation. This one day course aims to provide an evidence based approach to the design and conduct of clinical audit in primary care. It will use interactive small group work and is unique in that it will provide structured feedback for the audit project undertaken, to give participants the confidence to carry out high quality audits in their own surgeries.

Learning Objectives

 

  1. An understanding of the essential components of the audit cycle and the completion of the audit cycle in a practical project
  2. Demonstrate competence in developing audit criteria from relevant evidence sources (clinical guidelines) appropriate to the practitioners workplace and wording criteria in precise, concise and measureable terms
  3. Demonstrate competence in the conduct of the audit, including data collection, analysis and presentation of findings
  4. An understanding of the major barriers to implementing the findings of clinical audit in primary care and strategies to overcome them
