About the organisation

For ten years, the Crossroads Institute has been central to advancing knowledge and skills in coronary and endovascular intervention. The Institute’s faculty of leading experts, its advanced, interactive teaching techniques and hands-on technologies were all selected, developed and refined with health professionals in mind.

Now Crossroads, The Abbott Vascular Education Network, is evolving to enhance the services it can offer and is offering a unique internship at their offices in Belgium.

The position is to develop a strategy on how to approach medical education for the new generation of physicians. You will research, identify, argument and explain the new media (internet, social networks, apps...) that would be instrumental in successfully bringing continuing medical education to the reader.

Essential responsibilities

To create a plan which will include:

  • The objective / goal and scope of the project
  • The target audience
  • Identify tools, the type of media and media channels required
  • Timelines, costs and resources (manpower)

You will initiate a pilot project and receive feedback from physicians which will inform the future of the project going forward.

Educational requirements or experience

This internship may be of interest to a student studying biomedicine or material sciences or marketing or with an interest in the media and media channels although applications are welcome from all eligible students (see www.birmingham.ac.uk/internships for details of eligibility)

The internship will take place from approximately 25th June to 21st September 2012 and will be based in Brussels, Belgium; all costs will be covered by Global Challenge.
