GSK media procurement to pay analyst internship, Brazil

The Procurement Department in Costa Rica provides consulting and support to the local Procurement community in Central America, The Caribbean, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Perú, this region is referred to as CariCam Andina.

Among Procurement, key priorities are: savings delivery, internal control, contract management, supplier and internal customer management and supply chain management. The Procurement Team in this Region handles top business projects which have direct impact in our bottom line; hence we need to align our resources where we feel more added value will be delivered to the business.GSK Procurement Latina has identified electronic catalogues as a way to empower internal customers, while at the same time making sure internal controls are in place and fulfilled.

About the internship

Brazil Procurement department will initiate a project related to optimization of Procurement to Pay process: process mapping, system analysis and documentation.

One of the processes to be analysed in depth is the media purchasing and payment process; which will involve contact with agencies, marketing team, finance and procurement.

Current processes require a big effort in all areas involved to avoid payment delays. A leaner process is needed, also guaranteeing internal control, contract management, supplier and internal customer management. You will work with the Media team to enhance media purchase and payment processes.

  • Key responsibilities: Understand current processes and design new ones, looking for opportunities to reduce bureaucracy but assuring adequate control. Your deliverable will be to implement the new process.
  • Development Opportunities: You will have the opportunity to develop strategic procurement skills, engagement and influencing skills, team working, organisational skills and multi lingual skills.

The internship will be based in Rio de Janeiro and will run from approximately June to August 2013; all costs will be covered by Global Challenge.  

Qualifications and skills

  • A self starter who will be confident in communicating with all levels of staff and is able to manage his/her time to maximise the overall benefit without face to face supervision.
  • The candidate will be in daily contact with the Procurement team
  • Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • A business and purchasing background is desirable but not essential.
  • Good English
  • Ability to speak Portugese is advantageous but not essential (but why not try learning a little now?) 

We will attempt to provide you with the opportunity to speak with the student who worked with GSK in Brazil and the student who undertook a procurement project with GSK in 2012 prior to your departure.
