Residents leading positive change in their community share success at the Our Bigger Story Film Festival

Over the past two years the Third Sector Research Centre has been evaluating Big Local: a resident led change initiative in 150 communities in England, managed by Local Trust and funded through the Big Lottery. This is a unique longitudinal evaluation in that it is tracking change in 15 communities over a decade using film, audio and other media as well as more traditional research methods. 24 such films are available on the Our Bigger Story vimeo channel.

The first of the Our Bigger Story evaluation reports were published in July 2017 and consist of summary and full report – which is also available as an e-book.

Rather than the usual launch conference, TSRC hosted a Film Festival at Birmingham University on 1 July 2017: both to share the findings of the reports and celebrate the work of Big Local areas in bringing about resident led change. Attended by 150 people from 30 Big Local areas, the event showcased not only Our Bigger Story films but also those made by local residents and young people themselves. All these films are available on the Local Trust website.
