Entry requirements

The following information is for guidance only and should be used together with the University's general entrance requirements and any specific degree programme requirements.   If you are unsure about the acceptability of your qualifications for entry to Birmingham please contact us for further details.

Foundation Pathways 

Students who have completed the Devlet Lise Diplomasi or Lise Bitirme Diplomasi with an overall score of at least 3/5 or 60/100, to include 3/5 in Mathematics for our Engineering and Physical Sciences pathway or at least 3/5 in Biology for our MLGS pathway that progresses to a Biology focused degree, will be considered for our Foundation Pathways.

The University will consider students who have taken A Level examinations or the International Baccalaureate (IB) for entrance to undergraduate programmes.

Students who hold the Lise Diplomasi and who have completed a suitable foundation programme, such as the Foundation Pathways, will be considered for admission to a Bachelor degree programme.

Holders of the Lise Diplomasi or Lise Bitirme Diplomasi from certain schools with a score of 4/5 or 70/100, or who have also taken SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) and AP (Advanced Placement) tests will be considered for admission to Bachelor degree programmes.  For more deails on SAT and AP requirements, please refer to the USA country-specific pages.


Holders of a good Lisans Diplomasi with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 from a recognised university will be considered for postgraduate study at Diploma or Masters level.

Holders of a Yuksek Diplomasi from a recognised university will be considered for PhD study.

You may be required to provide evidence of your English ability.  See the entry requirements for specific programme requirements.

The Birmingham International Academy Foundation Pathways accepts applications from Turkish students and we have vdeos about the programme which are subtitled into Turkish.

Student societies

Many nationality groups form student societies during their time at the University of Birmingham. This is an excellent way to keep in contact with home and also provides an opportunity to highlight your culture and customs in the UK.

Alumni groups are an excellent way of keeping in contact with the University and with other graduates from Birmingham who live in your country. Some alumni groups meet on a regular basis for social and professional events.
