Student Profile

DongniLi

Dongni Li - MSc Molecular Biotechnology

I chose to study at Birmingham because UOB is a famous University across the world - I always heard about it. Not only because of its history, but also due to the reputation for the advancement of knowledge of science and technology it has.
My previous study was in Dalian Jiao Tong University, China. The most different thing from my previous learning experience is how to study independently. It is difficult not to be influenced by such a great learning atmosphere and this is certainly one of the reasons I wanted to study abroad.
I think the professional teaching by famous and talented professors and doctors, in addition to practical opportunities, all give me confidence and an in-depth understanding of Biosciences.
The facilities at the school are very good. Computers, laboratories and sport centre facilities are all available for students, and the qualities of these are great. Web CT is a good online support system and contains lecture documents from the lecturers. These materials help us understand lectures easier.
There is plenty of information online with regards accommodation for students and the accommodation is all on campus. I found my living place online and like it.
I’d like to recommend UoB to others. Good teaching quality, great study atmosphere and wonderful lab facilities - they are all reasons for me to recommend University of Birmingham.
I hope when I graduate I will find a job, with my ideal position being a researcher in a laboratory working as part of a team.
