Partner Visit Day
21st November 2011
The Partner Visit Day aims to provide our exchange partners with an opportunity to get to know us – to meet with staff from the International Office, departmental Exchange Tutors and University of Birmingham students.
We also hope to provide some interesting facts about the University and the city of Birmingham that partners can then pass on to their students who may be considering a year or semester abroad in the UK. The provisional programme for the event is as follows:
-
Lunch with Study Abroad and Exchanges team, departmental Exchange Tutors & students from partner's own universities
-
Presentation of University of Birmingham
-
Tour of the campus and student accommodation
-
Tour of the city centre
-
Dinner at top city centre restaurant
We do not charge a fee for this event and the above meals and activities are offered on a complimentary basis. We would just ask partners to arrange and pay for their travel and accommodation.
For further information, or to book a place at this event please contact Duncan Smith, Study Abroad & Exchanges adminstrator, email d.smith.1@bham.ac.uk
Study Abroad and Exchanges Fair
22nd November 2011 12pm to 3pm Great Hall, Aston Webb Building
The aim of the Study Abroad Fair at Birmingham is to provide information on the opportunities available to University of Birmingham students for their year abroad, whether this is an optional or compulsory part of their degree programme.
All University exchange partners are invited to participate at the event to talk to our students about the options available to them at their particular institution. Other relevant organisations are also invited such as the Erasmus Society and Student Jet Packs.
In addition, returning students and incoming students from a range of institutions and countries are available to answer questions regarding a year abroad from their own personal experience.
Students will be able to ask them all of the things they really want to know, from how to find accommodation and what is the best way to make local friends, to how difficult it is to adapt to a new culture or studying in a foreign language.
Partner institutions that have attended in the past have included University of New South Wales, University of Connecticut, Grenoble Ecole de Management, University of Caen, Aarhus University, Frankfurt University, Gottingen University, Tillburg University, Extremadura University, Leuven University, University of Pecs, Poitiers University, University of Lodz, Huelva University, Universitat Jaume I and University of Bonn.
The exchanges fair is a great opportunity to find out about a year abroad whether this is an optional or compulsory part of a students' course so we would strongly encourage all students planning to study abroad to attend this excellent event.
If you have any further questions about participating in the fair then please contact Natasha Crompton by email at n.crompton@bham.ac.uk
