University of Birmingham Sport (UBSport) will be hosting an exciting event on Sunday, January 23 as TV personality and Radio 1 DJ Vernon Kay pays a visit to campus with his reformed American Football team, The Manchester All-Stars, to take on the British Universities American Football League (BUAFL) Champions, the Birmingham Lions.
The Manchester All-Stars team, who are no longer carefree teenagers but middle-aged men with families, careers and responsibilities, have been taking no chances after playing together for the first time in nearly 20 years by undergoing intensive training with NFL coaches to push their minds and bodies to the max.
The Birmingham Lions are undefeated in three years of regular season action, reigning back-to-back student champions, home of star quarterback and two-time League MVP Tristan Varney and hosts of the biggest kick-off game in student sport.
Can Vernon and his team - who were originally formed in 1984 but only ever won one match - achieve the seemingly impossible and beat the Lions?
Spectators will also be treated to a half-time performance from UBSport cheerleaders, the award-winning Birmingham Pussycats, plus alcohol, hot drinks and food will be available.
This event is free of charge.
