The University Music Society's University Choir and Philharmonic Orchestra, perform Elgar's Dream of Gerontius with Daniele Rosina as conductor.

Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius is a landmark work, intimately linked with Birmingham: it was premièred in the Town Hall in 1900 and brought the composer international recognition. Elgar later became the university’s first professor of music,while the author of the words, the recently beatified John Henry Newman, lived at the Oratory in Edgbaston.
