An outstanding team of young professional singers (of whom all but one have appeared in a
Barber Opera), with a professional orchestra and the University Singers, perform Handel’s gripping account of the clash between an ancient Roman governor and an early Christian martyr. The issues involved still concern us today, and Handel’s music conveys them with timeless sensitivity and power.
Featuring Louise Alder Theodora, William Towers Didymus, Nicki Kennedy Irene, Timothy Mirfin Valens and Mark Chaundy Septimus and with Birmingham University Singers and The Musical and Amicable Society Baroque Orchestra conducted by Colin Timms.
